TRIO 3-in-1 wearable fitness sensor by Tigra – Review

Curt Reviews the Heart Rate Monitoring Capabilities of the TRIO

I received the TRIO 3-in-1 wearable fitness sensor by Tigra on Friday and of course charged it straight away. I wasn’t able to get a ride in until Sunday and the unit had plenty of power as I rode for just under two hours. I was out on the gravel and it was hot and humid here in MO. I got blasted by a couple of cars so the dust was thick. The TRIO 3-in-1 wearable fitness sensor by Tigra was completely unaffected by the dust and sweat though. I wiped it off when I got home and used it again for a walk on Monday and it still had plenty of charge.

I’ve never used a heart rate monitor before but taking my pulse manually seemed to match my readings from the monitor so I’d say it is accurate. The unit also doubles as a cadence sensor for cycling and running but we’ll run down the specs here in just a sec.

So, when I opened the package on Friday this is what I found inside:

tigra_sport_trio-2c80843e610eb4519c8383ba0b2391f9The sensor and its waterproof cover, two straps, one 40 cm and one that is 16 cm, one USB cable and the charging unit. Of course the unit is Bluetooth and it hooked up to the TigraFit app as well as another app that I use and my GPS multi-function watch. The Bluetooth pairing was quick and easy, no issues with this. I mentioned the TigraFit app which can be found at the App Store so I’m guessing you know which operating system that works with 🙂 The TRIO 3-in-1 wearable fitness sensor by Tigra can be used for cycling or running and will monitor heart rate and cadence for both. The instructions say to wear the unit on the lower leg for best performance while cycling. The unit can be worn on the forearm or bicep while running. I will say the strap is easy to use and change out and fits securely. The included instructions were easy to follow. The instructions mention to not wear the unit over any tattoos or such as this could interfere with the accuracy of the reading.  The unit has an auto off function which works well and is great for a guy like me that often forgets to turn off apps and such after a workout. The unit works with several different apps besides the TigraFit app so I’m sure your favorite is included in this list.

I can’t find any real downside to using this product. I found it very easy to use, particularly, as I mentioned before, I’ve never used a heart rate monitor until now. The unit appears to be durable so far and it connects to so many different apps and other accessories you should have no problems in incorporating this into what you are already using. I plan to keep on using the TRIO 3-in-1 wearable fitness sensor by Tigra and if you are in the market for your first, or next, heart rate monitor you should keep this one in mind.
