Tour de France Banner Falls at 1km on Adam Yates – Video

The Tour de France is an arduous journey over thousands of miles. Riders expect to feel the pain of climbing, attacking, sprinting. One thing they don’t expect is inflatable banners falling on them with 1km to go. 

Adam Yates made some unfortunate history as he had gapped the peloton and was seeking to put time into his rivals. Apparently, one of the four fan motors used to keep air flowing into the legs of the banner failed, which let the entire structure fall right as Yates barreled through. 

Live coverage didn’t catch the crash as it happened, but the power of GoPro and YouTube lets us see just what happens from the POV of the Mavic motor that was right behind Yates. Check out the video below:
