Isoride Gel Snap Revolutionizes Gel Pouches – Interbike 2015

Disclosure: This article may link to affiliate sites/feature complimentary products for review purposes.

If you’ve ever felt let down by your current gel because it’s tough on the teeth or tricky to open with two hands while on the bike, Isoride has an answer for you. In their simplistic but ingenious design, these gel-snaps offer a new way to get to your energy fix: by bending the snap in half.

Yup. A square little pouch filled with their very thin gel is super easy to ingest one-handed. Once you bend the snap in half, you can bite and squeeze the package until all of the gel is released. Developed with the input of a former pro rider who crashed while opening a traditional style pouch (a fall which subsequently ended his professional career), these are meant to be eaten without difficulty.

We tasted the strawberry banana flavor at Interbike, and were somewhat happy with the super thin consistency. Although we didn’t get to try these on the bike, they really are as easy to imbibe as the company claims. Even I, as a hater of bananas, was happy with the light taste of the Isoride.

Each gel has 90 calories and offers a 30-minute boost. Here are the nutritional specs:

INGREDIENTS: Maltodextrin, Water, Fructose, Citric Acid, Natural Flavors, Xanthan Gum, Potassium Citrate, Calcium Carbonate, Ascorbic Acid (Vitamin C), L-Leucine, DL-Alpha Tocopheryl Acetate (Vitamin E), Potassium Sorbate, L-Valine, L-Histidine, L-Isoleucine, Ginger Root Extract, Chamomile Root Extract, and Sea Salt.
