Fans of Shimano’s Ultegra R8000 have a new hint to drop to Santa Claus this year as Pioneer is officially shipping their Ultegra R8000 compatible power meters. Because there’s nothing like telling Old St. Nick that the most important sentiment is caring . . . caring to know your exact wattage output at all times. It’s the spirit of Christmas, right?
OK, all kidding aside, Pioneer’s newest power meter is available now, and its comparatively low price, entry-level unit makes this a strong choice for many cyclists while its dual leg offering is a must for the serious, data-driven rider.
ULTEGRA R8000 COMPATIBLE PIONEER POWER METER CRANKSETS NOW AVAILABLE
As one of the front-runners in affordable power meters, Pioneer has blazed a few trails in both dual and single leg units that work with Shimano cranks. As Shimano continues to upgrade, so does Pioneer with its latest offering in Ultegra R8000 Hollowtech II.
Starting at a competitive price of $499, you can grab the new Ultegra R8000 power meters at authorized retailers now.
Pioneer’s power meters aim to help cyclists improve pedaling technique and efficiency. Their single leg units get you started with power training, while the dual leg power meters help riders uncover sources of pedaling imbalance and identify bike fit, power loss and absorption issues, making them essential tools for improving pedaling technique and efficiency.
“We are excited to expand our product offerings and be the first manufacturer to ship both dual leg and single leg power meters compatible with the highly-anticipated Shimano ULTEGRA R8000 HOLLOWTECH II crankset,” said Russ Johnston, executive vice president of marketing and corporate communications for Pioneer Electronics (USA) Inc. “With our new ULTEGRA R8000 power meter options and our entire line of products, you train smarter, not harder.”
Perhaps one of the coolest things with Pioneer’s power meter line is not only the options for single or dual leg units, but also the ability to add dual or single leg power to your own existing Ultegra R8000 cranksets using one of their more cost-effective kits.
Pioneer’s power meters pair up with an ANT+ bike computers, and will display any standardized metrics the computer supports. If you combine the power meter with Pioneer’s own SGX-CA500 Cycle Computer, you’ll also be able to see exclusive HDPower Metrics with enhanced power data and analysis.
Adding Pioneer’s Cycle Computer enables the rider to see comprehensive performance analysis and highly detailed data, gathered from 12 points of measurement on the Single Leg Power Meter and 24 points of measurement on the Dual Leg Power Meter, and displayed graphically in real time on the display of the Cycle Computer, including Force Vectors, Torque Vectors graphics and Pedaling Efficiency.
